Barbara's page

I'm an aspiring science fiction writer living in College Station, Texas. I've been tinkering for years, but I got serious after I graduated from the University of Houston in 2003.

I have had some good luck. I got First Runner up in the 2004 Isaac Asimov Undergrad contest, I made it to the finals in the 2006 L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest, and the semi-finals in the 2007 contest. Another of my stories nabbed Honorable Mentions in the 2008 and 2009 contests.

And finally, it's happened. I have a short story published in a paying magazine! Look for 'Damaged On Every Level' in the #11 issue of Crossed Genres. I know you wanna run and buy it... ^_^

You'll wanna buy it even more now that it's made Tangent Online's 2009 Recommended Reading List. Woo hoo!

I am now taking freelance proofreading jobs! No job too big or small. ^_^

Be sure to check out my blog. Highly sarcastic writing.

I highly recommend writing groups. If you're looking for one in Houston, try Writer's Ink.

Keep writing all you people. Remember what Jeff Herman said, "No rejection is fatal until the writer walks away from the battle, leaving the written work behind, undefended and unwanted."
